Total Value Locked TVL

The aggregate value of assets deposited into a DeFi protocol or ecosystem.

TVL measures the total USD value of assets deposited into smart contracts — lending pools, liquidity pools, staking vaults — across a protocol or blockchain. It is the standard metric for DeFi ecosystem health and protocol dominance. TVL is imperfect: it can be inflated by double-counting across composable protocols, and it fluctuates with asset prices rather than just deposit volume.
